Local in the Know: Briana from Watermelon Red

Tell us a secret only a local would know:

There is the most gorgeous BBQ and picnic area tucked away at the end of Yerranya Row in Yaroomba which is private, picturesque and right on the beach. Perfect if you want to get out and about whilst escaping the crowds in the peak season.

What is your favourite time of year on the coast and why?

I love spring. We still have those never ending, cloudless blue skies, the days are warming up and after hibernation we can start dipping our toes back in the sea. However, the nights are still crisp with dew in the air and we look forward to entertaining friends and family outside with the brazier still blazing.

What do you do to relax on the Sunshine Coast?

Swim in the ocean, garden, play lots of music and visit the Hyatt Day Spa a few times a year!

When friends and family come and stay, what do you recommend for them to do during their stay on the Sunshine Coast?

A walk through Noosa National Park, a 4WD day trip to Double Island Point, dinner at Harvest in Coolum, a lazy Sunday afternoon in the sun at Peregian Originals, a hike up Mount Coolum and lots of eating, sleeping and drinking in the sunshine.

What is the your favourite aspect about living on the coast?

The stunning location makes me marvel everyday. Also being able to run my own business and still achieve a work/life balance at my age.

What is your idea of a perfect day spent on the Sunshine Coast from dawn to dusk?

A walk along the beach and refreshing swim with Chris and Snoop, a languid breakfast out or in with the newspapers spread to each edge of the table and a bottomless cup of coffee! An afternoon spent catching up with friends, followed by a nanny nap on our daybeds in the garden. Once awake, an ice cold cocktail to spark up the conversation about how amazing the day has been.

What labels do you stock?

Papaya, Samantha Robinson, Bison, Linen & Moore, Citta Design, Globewest, Cloth Fabric, Tribe Home, Imandeco, Pomegranate, Spencer Lacy, Holiday Trading, Whistling Teals, Soles, Riley Burnett, Mozi, Voluspa, Glasshouse, Bambu, Stampato, just to name a few of our regulars. Don’t forget our extensive range of textiles by Mokum, Warwick, Hemptech, Swells Textiles, Florence Broadhurst and more!

What is the most popular range in your shop?

Glasshouse Fragrances, and Linen and Moore for their gorgeous table linens.

Describe the fashion style of the coast:

Very relaxed yet sophisticated. A nice blend of resort wear and international trends.
